At First Bank of Pike we realize that protecting your personal and business financial information on the internet is very important. We are now enhancing our controls to improve the authentication methods used for our internet banking products.
The PassMark Security Solution is a quick and easy security measure that will protect your account information and help prevent identity theft whenever you sign on to e-banking. This solution still requires you to provide an Access ID and password but also identifies you based on the specific computer used. During the fourth quarter of this year, when you sign onto e-banking, you will be prompted to enroll in PassMark by entering a pass phrase (known as your “image title”) for a randomly selected authentication image.
Each time you sign on to e-banking afterwards, the authentication image and your unique phrase will be displayed before you are asked to enter your password. By verifying your authentication image and pass phrase are correct, you have assurance that you are actually viewing First Bank of Pike’s website and not a “spoof” site. Concurrently, PassMark allows the bank to evaluate your computer to ensure that access is not a fraudulent attempt to access your account information.
During the on-line PassMark enrollment process you will also be asked to provide answers to three challenge questions. In the event you sign-on from a computer that is not registered with PassMark, some or all of the challenge questions will be asked to further identify you as an authorized accountholder.
Not only must the individual accessing your internet banking account prove his or her identity to First Bank of Pike’s website, but the website must also prove its identity to the individual. The result is end-to-end protection against phishing, spoofing, keyboard logging, and fraudulent attacks—all without the need to install any software.
